How BigMile went from no marketing team to global reach with Unmuted

One contract. One B2B marketing team. All bases covered.
BigMile helps companies calculate their transport-related CO2 emissions, transforming raw data into credible, actionable emission reports. But by early 2023, their marketing team was down to zero.
“We had just lost our marketer,” says Bas Wolff, Product Manager at BigMile. “And I realized: we don’t need one new person: we need a full range of skills. That’s when we brought in Unmuted.”
Rather than replacing one FTE, BigMile chose a strategic content and demand partner to help with everything from messaging to media, at a pivotal moment of growth.
“I have all the skills of a full marketing department in one contract,” says Jochum Reuter, VP Sales at BigMile. “I literally have budget for a marketing director, but I haven’t used it. That says enough.”
“Whatever I ask, Unmuted has someone to handle it. From one-pagers to website copy, to LinkedIn memes, they just get it done.”

Driving (no pun intended) results in a conservative industry
BigMile operates in one of the most traditional industries out there: transport and logistics. And yet, the company now stands out as one of the most recognizable names in the space.
“I was at a major logistics forum speaking with the CIO of one of the world’s biggest carriers. He said, ‘BigMile? You guys are flying. You’re all over the internet.’ That’s when I knew the strategy was working.” - Jochum Reuter, VP Sales
With a clear narrative, fresh new website, strong LinkedIn presence, and thought leadership content, BigMile grew from a local player into a brand that enterprise buyers now recognize by name.
Inbound performance reflects that shift. “We’re now generating 200+ qualified leads per month from our site and social channels,” Jochum adds. “And the conversations have changed. Now we’re talking to global car manufacturers.”
More than execution: challenging marketing strategies together
When Jochum joined BigMile, he expected a typical marketing agency—one that creates whatever the client asks for. What he found was a partner that also challenges ideas, sharpens strategy, and pushes for what’s most effective.
“Unmuted doesn’t just say yes to whatever we throw at them. They ask tough questions, adjust our ideas, and make sure it works in the real world. That’s what makes them essential to our go-to-market.” - Jochum Reuter

That mindset came through in the ‘media machine’ proposal: a push toward podcasting and media-style content to cement BigMile’s position as a thought leader in a complex, shifting industry.
A future for BigMile and Unmuted built on reach, relevance, and real leads
BigMile’s mission is expanding: from helping businesses comply with legislation, to helping them serve climate-conscious consumers and investors. That means growing internationally, landing bigger accounts, and evolving the message.

“With Unmuted, we don’t just reach more people, we reach the right ones. And we do it in ways our competitors wouldn’t dare to try.” - Jochum Reuter
Behind the scenes, Bas Wolff, Product Manager at BigMile, wholeheartedly agrees: “You understand the SaaS space, our industry, and our value. That’s rare. You work autonomously, deliver across different areas, and keep pushing forward.”
In short? “Unmuted is like the Swiss army knife of B2B SaaS marketing,” Jochum concludes.
